Why not take a glimpse into “old school advertsing” versus the approach taken today. This is a TV commercial that was done for drinking and driving awareness.  Today’s society no longer responds to this kind of advertising. Creativity is needed when approaching this issue. People need to be engaged and the message needs to have IMPACT…it is,however, always good to look back and compare ideas…

Talking Urinals?!

Posted in Ideas Ideas Ideas with tags , , on March 3, 2009 by confidencekillers

I recently read this on  The Unofficial Stanford Blog

” SANTA FE – New Mexico is taking its fight against drunken driving to men’s restrooms around the state. The state has ordered 500 talking urinal cakes that will deliver a recorded anti-DWI message to bar and restaurant patrons who make one last pit stop before getting behind the wheel.

“Hey there, big guy. Having a few drinks?” a female voice says a few seconds after an approaching male sets off a motion sensor in the device. “It’s time to call a cab or ask a sober friend for a ride home.”

Transportation Department spokesman S.U. Mahesh said the urinal cakes are a way to reach one group that’s a target of state safety campaigns. Men commit about three times as many drunken-driving infractions as women.

The devices were invented by Richard Deutsch. “The idea is based on the concept that there is no more captive audience than a guy standing at a urinal,” Deutsch said. “You can’t look right and you can’t look left; you’ve got to look at the ad.”

Pretty interesting idea!!! A defnate talking point for guys all  over the world is this was to go global…

This is a campaign that was run in Canada by the organisation, MADD. Poster depicting a car are placed in strategic locations and when crumpled at the bottom…show what will happen if you drink and drive. This is eye-catching, different and very clever…What do you guys think??

A message of CHANGE

Posted in Thoughts with tags , , , , on January 21, 2009 by Stacey Rehbock

After watching last night’s inspirational inauguration of Barack Obama to the highest office in America. I was sitting at home pretty emotional (yes, a litte tear in the eye) and was incredibly inspired that one man could get so many people excited and ready to make a change for their country and in their own lives. I have mentioned Obama is a previous post and the fact that he preaches “A Change we can Believe in”…What Obama has shown us is that we do not have to live in a state of unhappiness and in a world that belives in corrupt messages and harmful behaviour. By George Bush passing over the presidency,it rang in a new era. Obama has allowed people to believe they can live in a world that they are proud of. We as CONFIDENCE KILLERS are firm belivers in this. So if one man could inspire a nation and the world wth his message and passion for change.

So can we…Keep up the support!

EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES…

Posted in Thoughts on January 14, 2009 by Stacey Rehbock

We all have an excuse for everything…

“I swear I didn’t do it”

“I’m under a lot of stress”

“The dog ate my homework”

Excuses are a way to pass the blame on to someone else besides ourselves. They are a way of protecting our behaviour and sometimes covering mistakes we have made. It is a way to avoid the reality we are faced with.

When it comed to drunken driving,it is NO exception..excuses are everywhere!!

Have you heard these before?

“I’m a guy, I have a higher tolerance than girls, I’m fine”

“I stopped drinking an hour ago, I’m okay to drive”

“I’ll take the back roads, no one will catch me”

“I am extra careful on the roads when I’m drunk”

Pernod Ricard’s “Accept Responsibility” campaign has the EXCUSE BUSTER. It looks at the fact that everyone in society  makes excuses for their behaviour as well as drinking and driving. But it is time to STOP MAKING EXCUSES and take responsibily for your own, personal actions. On one of ther posters, they state: “DRUNK DRIVING DOES NOT START WITH A DRINK..IT STARTS WITH AN EXCUSE.”

I couldn’t agree more…
